Response to the Coronavirus

3/6/2020

Dear Church Family,
As believers, we must be very careful to have a measured response to the events of our world. While I personally am not worried about the Coronavirus, I’m sure that many in our church are. It is imperative that we use common sense and basic hygiene, but we must also maintain peace in our hearts and faith in God.

Due to the numerous warnings which have been issued by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Calvary Baptist Church encourages everyone to heed the advice of the CDC and US State Departments' travel watches, alerts, and warnings, and to take common-sense precautions in daily life.
As of today, one case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been reported in our area, but it appears to be an isolated case. Regardless, the leadership of our church is staying informed on preparation efforts, and we are continuing to monitor the reports from the CDC and the State Health Department.

Further efforts to adapt our worship gatherings, our events, and our programs will be made if deemed necessary. We are making every effort to continue to provide hand sanitizers in all buildings. We suggest that hand shaking not be done as we welcome each other, and we will suspend our greeting time during our song services. Our facilities staff will continue to clean thoroughly.

Additionally, we're encouraging our staff to stay home if they are sick and not come back to work or church until they have been symptom free and fever free for at least 24 hours. We would encourage the same thing of you, our members and attenders, when considering worship and other activities at the church.

As we respond to the potential impact of this health crisis, it's good to remind ourselves not to become captivated by fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." How we as believers respond in times of crisis is a direct reflection of the faith we have in our great God! We can show our love in times like this by offering to pray for others and being an encouragement to them.  God is in control!

Trusting Christ,
Pastor Greg
