Want to pass along an opportunity to help, serve, work, and minister to the homes affected by the recent tornado in the East Brainerd area. The Tennessee Baptist Association has set up headquarters at Concord Baptist Church at 7025 E Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Groups meet and rally there at 9AM each morning to form teams to go out to clean up neighborhoods. Men, women, and teens can show up there and they will direct you to a place to serve.
You will need work clothes, gloves, boots preferably, face masks, etc. They have supplies like trash bags, etc. They will take your temperature and have you fill out a release form. Only those with disaster certification can use chainsaws, but bring them if you want to. Many of you have asked for ways to help and this is a great and well-organized opportunity that is already making a difference. Additionally, we are looking at passing out hundreds of Chick-fil-a sandwiches starting on Friday at lunchtime in Andrea McGuirt's neighborhood and Joe and Courtney Good's neighborhood where people are still living in their homes without power. Those of you that reached out to us to volunteer....we will be contacting you tomorrow about helping. Thank you!

In light of the stay-at-home guidelines issued by the city and county, all activities and buildings at church are closed until April 14. This includes the gym and workout area and any other sponsored or non-sponsored activities that take place on the property. We will maintain office hours at the church if you need to speak with us or drop something off.
I have been in contact and discussion with Mayor Coppinger (Hamilton County) and acting Mayor Ruth Jeno (Red Bank) and while they would prefer that we don't even come to church to livestream each Sunday, they have assured me they will not enforce it or give us any difficulty if we do. We intend to keep providing streaming services as we have been for the last few weeks. This Sunday at 9:30, Pastor Chris will conclude the 3-year Gospel Project curriculum with the final lesson. I encourage you to watch and learn. What a great and consistent resource this has been for our church the last several years! The 10:15 service will be a celebration of Palm Sunday with music and preaching. The 6:00PM sermon is one that I strongly desire the entire church to hear. Thank you for your generous giving during this ordeal. Our giving has been largely unaffected and has remained strong these last several weeks. Please keep it up. We have several thousand dollars in the Covid-19 fund as well and this will help pay for several past outreaches and some that are upcoming. Easter will be different! All we can do is strongly invite and encourage new viewers to watch the livestream at 10:15am on Easter Sunday. We have some special music planned. Please reach out to whoever you can and let's see if we can have the largest online audience we've ever had! We want everyone to hear about the hope and life found in Jesus. I am grateful to be your pastor. I may not have spoken to each of you, but you remain close to my heart and on my mind. I miss seeing each of you! Pastor Greg

Our Elementary Ministry Director (Sam Melton) and Assistant (Ashlynn Combs) put together this fun video which may help you get to know them better!
Hope all of you are doing well! We sure do miss seeing everyone and we can't wait to gather as a church family again.
Here's what's happening this Sunday through or online-only services: 9:30AM - Life Group Lesson (Pastor Chris) 10:15AM - Morning Worship/Message called "The Cure for Your Anxiety" 6:00PM - Pastor's Roundtable of 1 Thessalonians 3 Look for 2 Children's Church videos on Sunday also - one for younger kids and one for older kids. They should be accessible through a new section of our church website under the "Messages" tab for non-sermon videos. We'll try to link them to Facebook as well. We are getting creative in staying connected! Tonight, we will attempt to have "virtual fellowship" through the power of technology. The men will get online with Pastor Greg at 6:30PM. The ladies will meet-up with Karen at 7:00PM. All who join in will get to see and hear each other. See the attached screenshot to see what it may look like.
All this will be done through Zoom.

Yesterday, for the first time, I was able to go volunteer at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. I heard they needed help from the volunteer coordinator at CSAS, where my girls go to school. The need has come about primarily because many of their usual volunteers are staying away because of COVID-19.
I called the Food Bank last week to find out more information. The receptionist told me they provide over 1 million pounds of food per month and service 20 counties in Tennessee and Georgia. After my conversation I went to their website to sign up as a volunteer. |
